| Ralph Dewey's challenge last month was a bird in a nest. |
Several years ago we hosted online photo contests regularly. It was fun, but BHQ was smaller back then and managing the contests was quite a bit simpler. We always intended to bring them back after we had time to regroup. Unfortunately, that time hasn't come yet. One of our regular columnists, Ralph Dewey, decided not to wait for us. A few months ago, Dewey quietly suggested that we have a monthly challenge on BHQ.
Dewey's idea was simple. Someone would suggest a theme and anyone that wanted would upload a photo to the BHQ collection that matched that theme. It's not a contest. There are no prizes. It's just about challenging everyone to think, grow, and share (and maybe show off a bit). We never officially launched this challenge to the BHQ world. It just sort of happened. Two months ago, Dewey put instructions for a twisted Spiderman sculpture in his column. Almost immediately several people uploaded their own versions of Spidey.
Last month, Dewey officially challenged everyone to create their own versions of the sculpture in his column: a bird in a nest. That was met with an incredible response. The same day the columns went online, we were already seeing photos of inflated bird nests uploaded. Unfortunately, it seems that only balloon twisters participated in this challenge. Let's grow the challenge this month. Whether you're an entertainer or decorator, make sure to check out Dewey's column for inspiration and post your own best work on the suggested theme. The more varied the responses are, the more fun we'll all have.
