We've learned that Debbie Piotrowski has decided to step down from her position as the Balloon HQ Advertising Director. Debbie's sunny disposition and professional demeanor came at just the right time. She helped keep BHQ on track during some very trying professional, and personal, times. We've been proud to have her represent Balloon HQ in the office and at many industry events.
Debbie will relinquish the last of her official BHQ duties over the next few weeks. But, happily, she is not leaving our little circle altogether. Debbie will still be actively involved in making Balloon Manor 2006 a tremendous success.
We're looking forward to seeing many friends and colleagues at educational events over the next few months. I (Sheena) will be representing BHQ at Ballooniversity 2006 in Athens, Georgia USA in July. As a one-person team, I'll spend the majority of my time in Georgia photographing as much of the event decor, competition pieces, and class sessions as possible. Look for delayed event coverage; photos will be posted soon after I return to Illinois.
Larry and John Barthelmes will be traveling to Las Vegas, Nevada USA in early August for Summer Balloon Camp. They'll present BHQ Event Coverage of all the great events, jams, and competitions. Once again, we'll be conducting online voting for the competitions and all BHQ members will be asked for assistance in deciding the big winners.
Looking ahead to the fall, Balloon Manor returns in 2006 with new monsters, new rooms, and new challenges. Leaders Larry Moss and Don Caldwell will be joined by featured artists who will design pieces or complete rooms within the house. Artists include Troy Apprill, Brian Asman, John Barthelmes, Wynn Bell, Dave Bartlet, Linda Bruce, Ed Chee, Ralph Dewey, Marvin Hardy, Connie Iden, Tawney Noreen, Royal Sorell, and a dedicated group of community volunteers and balloon artists seeking to learn from the designers. Balloon HQ will be posting photos of the event, at some point. We're still working out the details for event coverage.
