Either way, our changes are making progress. Some of you may already be aware (either by reading Larry's posts on the forums or by first hand experience) that BalloonHQ has been going through a few rough spots in the past two months.

We are in the middle of major software and hardware upgrades that will eventually make BalloonHQ a better place to live. With these changes we can expect improved speed, greater reliability of the database and the site in general, and allow us to put into plan some things we have been thinking about for a long time.

Because of the amount of data and activity already on the site, this transition is taking time. Our goals throughout this transition are:

1. To make the transition as seemless as possible. BHQ users and viewers should have to do nothing to accomodate the changes, except for providing a little patience.
2. To keep data integrity. We've actually brought the servers down several times on purpose to make sure data is not lost, including photos, emails and forum postings (and of course the columns... can't forget the columns!).
3. To create as little down-time as possible. We realize that you use BalloonHQ not only as a source of information and communication with other Artists but as a marketing tool as well. We want to make sure your presence is available when your customers need it.
4. To make BalloonHQ better, which we are continually striving for.

With that in mind, the transition is taking a little longer than originally planned, but it is moving forward. If you experience anything strange, please drop us an email at support@balloonhq.com. We probably already know of the problem, but having the extra eyes doesn't hurt.

If we are expecting any planned down-time, we will certainly warn you ahead of time through the forums.

Prior to the recent issues, it had been years since we had substantial down time. How many other web sites can say the same thing?

Please continue to be patient with us. We're doing everything we can to get this done quickly and smoothly.
