| Uncle Creepy is a resident of Balloon Manor; a (slightly) haunted house being created this Halloween in Rochester, NY. |
Every month we strive to post columns (http://www.balloonhq.com/column) that are full of new and interesting information to balloon artists. As editor of the columns, I (John) know I can always look forward to reading about new design ideas from Ralph Dewey, business insight from Steve Jones, some new routine from Don Caldwell, or just something long from Mike Kenyon. If you're reading this right now, you might very well have enjoyed many of these wonderful columns yourself.
After reading for a while, you might be thinking "Hey, I have something important to say!" If so, we'd like to hear about it. You don't have to be a Ralph, Steve, Don or Mike to get an article published on BHQ. You just need to have something you want to share with the rest of the balloon community. If you find yourself writing long responses in the BHQ email forums, you're a good candidate to be a BHQ columnist! Whether it is some step-by-step instructions for a design of your own or ideas about running a successful balloon business - if you can organize your thoughts into a well-written article, send it to us.
BHQ Columns are published on-line around the first Monday of every month. The deadline for review and publication is the 15th of each month. If you'd like to contribute, send an email to editor@balloonhq.com.
It happened once again. Spearheaded by Jeff Brown from Juneau, Alaska, 163 artists registered on BalloonsAroundTheWorld.com for this year's global event. Those artists are based in 11 different countries. 46 US states/territories were represented by the artist participants.
It was a great day of giving. Here in Rochester, NY, we had quite a few people streaming through our work area during the day as we constructed ghoulish characters and other things that will eventually be resconstructed for Balloon Manor later this month. We took a different approach here than normal. Usually our group builds a large sculpture in one location. This time around, we built a number of smaller pieces and distributed them to a few different local libraries so that people in various parts of the city could see our work.
Everyone does someting different during BAtW. Some hand out balloon
figures. Others decorate a large area just to give people a chance to see
what balloon art is all about. We're looking forward to hearing the
reports and seeing the photos that are sure to stream in soon. Check out
BalloonsAroundTheWorld.com
to see what's already been posted and start preparing for the first
Wednesday of October in 2005.
