Geo Blossom Bracelet

by Ralph Dewey

The Balloon Challenge this month is to make some balloon jewelry.

While I was attending the first World Balloon Convention, I noticed someone wearing a balloon bracelet make from 6" Geo Blossoms linked together. Each nozzle had been poked through the center of the adjacent Geo. The last Geo's nozzle was connected through the first Geo's center.

After I made a few inquiries, it was traced back to the Millennium Jam where a twister had shown it a few years ago. So I didn't find out who the creator was. If anyone knows who it was, please let me know. I liked the idea, but noticed that it came apart a little too easily. Then I realized that if I wedged a small bubble inside each nozzle, the nozzle wouldn't slip back through the hole in the center of the Geo. It would stay together a lot better. But the only problem was that it was very difficult to insert the tiny little bubble. Then I remembered that I had purchased a castration band tool used by twisters to open balloons so that items could be inserted into them. By the way two stores in the USA, Tractor Supply and Southern States, both sell an economical version of the tool.

I used a very small bubble made from a section of a #160. Be sure to trim off the excess balloon. The nozzle of each Geo was opened using the tool and the tiny bubble inserted so that it's knot was positioned downward into the stem of the balloon.

Here is an example of two alternating colors (total of 8 Geos) for a bracelet. Notice that each Geo has a little white bubble inside it's nozzle. Even a necklace could be made from it. It would make a great Hawaiian lei. Here is an example of another style of enhancement. I used some scissors to make flower petals from a yellow round balloon and stretched them over the nozzle.
