Since Halloween will be coming soon, I thought I would share a simple, but great looking hat. This hat was inspired by a one that I saw David Ness make. The Ghost hat only requires two #260 balloons (one white and one pale blue) and one white 5" round balloon. Begin by fully inflating the blue #260 balloon fully except for about 2 inches and tie off the nozzle. Twist off a 1" bubble and ear twist it. Then twist off a long bubble big enough to encircle the child's head. Twist-connect the long bubble. You should have an 8" or so length of bubble remaining.
Inflate the white #260 balloon fully except for about 1 inch and tie off the nozzle. Twist off a 1" bubble and a 4" bubble. Fold and twist the 4" bubble. This is one of the ghost's hands. At the other end of the white #260, make another hand with a folded 4" bubble and with a 1" bubble remaining for the thumb. Fold the balloon in the middle.
Spiral the two halves of the balloon together by twisting them until you get to a point about 4" from the hands. Then twist-connect them together. To form the spiral, you basically hold the folded balloon with the heels of your hands. Then slightly rotate each half of the balloon in opposite directions. Then you push them together so that the friction will keep that slight rotation. Then grasp further up on the balloon and again slightly rotate each half of the balloon in the opposite direction. Keep repeating this maneuver of spiraling until you have achieved the proper length. This twisting technique was also explained in my previous article about the Balloon Torch. You may want to refer to it. Once the spiraling is completed, you have finished the ghost's body and arms.

Inflate the white 5" round balloon fully and tie off the nozzle. Wrap the knot between the arms. Then wrap the nipple end of the blue #260 to the same spot. Mark the face to complete the ghost hat.
As an alternative, you can put the ghost on the end of a fully inflated #260 balloon. Then you can make the ghost fly around.
Ghost Screamer Last month I explained how to insert a small hex nut inside a balloon. When you twirl it around, it will make an eerie sound. If you put a hex nut inside the head of the ghost, it makes a nice Halloween item that makes a ghostly sound.

Grasp the top of his head and with just wrist movement, move it around in a
small circle. Not only will the ghost make a weird noise, his body shakes
in a ghostly manner.
