When twisting for a line, you often need to make quick and easy balloon designs. Here is one that I will share with you that was inspired by Joe La Monica's "Chesty the Clown" design.
Sometimes when I make this character, the children call it Iron Man. Inflate a red #260 fully except for 1/2" and tie off the nozzle. Then twist off a 12" bubble (the first leg) and twist off a 1" bubble and ear twist it. Then twist off two 6" bubbles and twist-connect the ends.
I match up the nozzle end (the first leg) with the nipple end (the second leg) of the balloon to see if I have about 4 inches that can be fold twisted to serve as the head. If the amount is less than 4", I stroke and stretch the second leg to gain some length. If I have too much (more than 5"), I cut and remove the excess from the nipple end.
Poke both legs into the loop of the two 6-inch bubbles as shown. The legs will need to be bent forward to give the balloon man the proper posture. Be sure that the 1" ear twist is at the back of the head and the 4" bubble is positioned as shown.
At a point about 2" from the end of the legs, bend them outward slightly as shown to represent the feet. Decorate the face as shown with a black marker. If you want to add a little more detail, take a scrap of a yellow #160 or #260 and make a small double bubble. Position and wedge it to be in the center of the chest.
