One of the things I like about our community here at BHQ is the willingness to share. I've learned many things from the articles, photos and the mailing list, and I'd like to share one of my favorite creations with you. This rose came into being when I was jamming with a fellow twister (Patti Mac, The B'loon Lady). We were both fairly new to twisting, and she was trying variations on the 6 petal flower, while I was playing with a marble in a balloon. Combining the two and an added balloon for leaves we came up with this....
The rose is a simple but impressive creation using 4 balloons. I use two rose 260's, one wintergreen, and one standard green 260. You can use any color you'd like instead of the rose 260's, but I find jewel tones are a little bit harder to use with the final step.
The rose consists of four parts; a bud, leaves, stem, and crown.
To make the bud, inflate a rose 260 fully, burp it, tie it end to end. Twist at the midpoint, and make a double pinch twist at one end (See figure 1). Twist the two long sections together at their midpoints, then fold twist the four sections together like you would with a six petal flower (figure 2).

The leaves are a wintergreen 260 also fully inflated and tied end to end. Divide the balloon into thirds to make the three leaves, and fold the leaves in half to give them their shape (figure 3). Twist the leaves under the two pinch twists in the bud (figure 4).

The stem is a green 260 inflated with about a 3 inch tail. Twist a 3-4 inch bubble, a one inch pinch twist, and a 6 inch fold twist to make a leaf. Fold the leaf to give it some shape. Drop down about another 3-4 inches and make another leaf (figure 5). Wrap the nozzle of the stem around the pinch twists on the bud, and position the stem between the two pinch twists (figure 6).

The crown is a rose 260 fully inflated with just enough of a tail to tie end-to-end (but don't yet!). Tie the fully inflated 260 in a knot (figure 7), then loop the end through a second time and tie end to end (figure 8).

I find the easiest way for me to put the crown on is to wear it like a bracelet, then grab the four loops on the bud in the same hand (figure 9) and slide the crown down around the bud. Longer fingers have an advantage here. The end result, a rose (figure 10).
