The Graduate

Patricia Bunnell

I was inspired to make this small rendition of the Graduate after attending Alberto Falcone's class at WBC. Thank you Alberto!

Step 1 and 2: Inflate a black 260 leaving about a 6 inch tip. Make four 4 inch loops for the base.

Step 3: Form a 12 inch loop.

Step 4: Inflate another black 260 leaving about a 6 inch tip. Slide it through the 12 inch loop. Form one 4 inch bubble.

Step 5. Make another 4 inch bubble and twist the two 4 inch bubbles together to form arms. You should have another 12 inch loop for its body. The arms may seem a little bit short, but we will be adding hands.

Step 6: Inflate a blush 5 inch round. You can also use a yellow smiley face print or one of the people face prints for a head. I have used a white 260 to make a collar at the base of the head by forming a tight loop. Wedge the arms in the loop that forms its body.

Step 7: To make its hand you need to inflate a flesh colored 160 about 12 inches. Make a 1 inch bubble followed by a 2 inch loop. Pop and save the remaining balloon to form another hand with it.

Step 8: Attach the hands to the arms.

Step 9: I have twisted a small loop made from a black 160 at the base of the arm.

Step 10: I have used a 5X5 inch square from a sheet of black presentation board but any stiff black cardstock will do.

Step 11: Using glue dots I have attached a small loop made from a black 260 to form the hat base.

Step 12: Using glue dots I have attached the hat to the head. You can make a tassle out of any color 260. You may way to use one of the colors from the school of the graduate. Glue dot it to the top center of the square.
