Billy and the Boo Boo

by Stacey Schmude

Hey everyone! Thanks for so many comments on last month's article. I can't believe people actually like what I wrote... so, here's this month's article... or story! Billy and the Boo Boo! Please let me know what you think, I need to know

One day, Billy the blue balloon dog was walking down the street looking at all the little toys and treats in the window. While he wasn't paying attention, he tripped and fell, and hurt his poor little leg. He sat there as the air leaked out of his foot, and cried out for someone to help, but no one stopped to help him.

When Sandy the Red Mouse walked by and Billy asked for help, she said "I'm sorry Billy, I'm late for an appointment with Jason to pay hopscotch!" and scampered off.

When Amanda the Green Giraffe came walking by and Billy asked for help, she said "I'm so sorry Billy, but I need to get my makeup put on, I can't help right now!" and galloped off.

Sad, Billy got to his feet and slowly limped home to his mother. She put a Band-Aid on his boo boo, and said to her crying son, "I hope you'll never be like that if anyone else is in need."

This just made Billy even sadder. People just walked by? They didn't care? He would do something about it. No matter what people should be nice to each other, even if it's just helping others.

At school the next day, Billy was running around the track with Sandy the mouse, when Amanda the green giraffe tripped, and popped one of her legs. Instead of running on, like everyone else did, Billy knelt next to Amanda and tried to help her up, but she was too big for Billy to hold up himself. He pushed and he shoved, but all he could do was prop Amanda off the ground. Encouraged by Billy, Sandy the red mouse ran help him, sliding underneath Billy and pushing Amanda further into the air. Soon, the entire class was helping, some helping Billy and Sandy hold Amanda off the ground, and others helping them walk. Amanda looked down at Billy, smiled, and said, "Thanks Billy, you're a good friend."

The moral to this story is, kids, and adults who may be reading this as well, is to help others. If you stand up for what you think is right, you may change the way other people think, and make things better for everyone.
