When going to IBAC you need to see it as an investment. Not a cost. Just
like buying a new piece of equipment. If you forgo the experience of working
on the competition pieces just to save money you will be behind before ever
getting started. Helping with the competition pieces & working along side
some of the best in the industry is the BEST learning experience you will
have.
I have been going to IBAC for only 5-6 years. Every year I have brought
back enough knowledge and ideas to pay for my trip (Food, Airfare, hotel &
IBAC) and more! Some of my BEST knowledge came from working on lobby and
competition pieces. If you do not do the same you are not marketing yourself
correctly.

PS
I believe the reason to encourage everyone to stay at the host hotel is so
they give us the space for all the classes and competition. If Hotel rooms
are not guaranteed to be sold they would charge for the class rooms. So the
end result, IBAC would cost more.

Good luck to all. Hope to see you in the windy city.
