From: AeraDeco@aol.com Date: Tue, 14 Mar 2000 12:03:01 EST Subject: One last note about IBAC To: balloondeco@balloonhq.com You know, it seems like everyone out here has some legitimate comments, criticisms, compliments and concerns about how IBAC is run. But rather than rehash the same ideas over and over and OVER again, perhaps you should consider taking them directly to the source. I know for a fact that the folks at IBAC are extremely open to all constructive comments. And believe me, they do understand that they are providing a service for their clients, which are us in this case :) . Therefore, our opinions DO make a difference. However, opinions don't carry much weight when they're really just a lot of belly-aching and, yes, whining. It's much better to organize your thoughts and present it to Asli at the home office in a professional manner. You can link to them through www.ibaconline.com. But the one thing you have to remember..when you're dealing with 1300 delegates, it is impossible to please everyone. Some ideas are just not always feasible, and even though comments you may have seem easy enough to resolve, there are often many other factors involved we're just not familiar with. Also remember that conventions are notoriously expensive in general. Hotels, restaurants and tourism groups always look forward to a large group of business professionals away from home, and while one may think $120 per night (or whatever it is) is expensive, think about how much it costs to rent ALL of those break-out rooms for classes (I'm sure many go for around $300 per day), not to mention the ENTIRE ballroom for over a week (I'm willing to bet it's at least $4500 per day). Include staffing issues for the monitors, security, liability insurance, permits and rental of audio and visual equipment for presentations and the numbers keep going up. Just some things to consider... Steven Jones Aeration Decorations Cincinnati, OH
