Hi All,
Here is a quick base idea. I just did a job with columns using a microphone 
stand as the base. A 1/2" conduit slide right into the mic pole and a little 
duct tape at the joint held it secure. A bench weight added more weight to 
it. I don't know if this idea was ever suggested but hope it helps someone.
