Subject: Expo advice

Hello all!
I am asking for some advice from those of you who have participated in
bridal expos, or have been involved in the organizing of them. A local
convention center/hotel, radio station, and I are in the process of planning
one for next November.
Here is my question...what kind of turnout have you seen in shows in the
fall? The show would be during hunting season, (in northern MN all the
women are widowed for 2 weeks!), and snowstorms wouldn't be a factor.
The reason we are not having it in Jan. or Feb. is because there is already
a show put on every year by a local bridal dress shop. It is mainly a
fashion show, about 2 hours long, and has about 15 vendors at it. The
reason we want to put on another one is that that show is limited to no
other bridal dress shops or florists. And, we often find that by Feb., they
have been well into their plans for their weddings that summer. Also, I've
often gotten a response of "I already have my dress" when I offer the
tickets to brides; there isn't any advertising of vendors being at the show,
so people don't know there is any. Also, we would offer booths at half the
price. However, the show is well done and attended, so we don't want to
offend her or take away any attendees from her show; that isn't our
objective. That led us to consider a fall bridal expo. (not to mention that
I would be a sponsor of the show, and would completely decorate the entire
area like an actual bridal reception!)
Any experiences or advice you have would be more than welcome!
Thanks in advance for any of you taking the time to respond!!
