Hi Everyone!

This post triggered a thought--why just sell individual items
when you decide to close your business due to a move or for any
reason? I have been in the balloon business for 11 years. When my husband
took a principal job 90 miles away 3 years ago, I sold my small homebased
business for several thousand dollars! I had 17
calls from interested buyers and sold it in a matter of days. My
business had been established for over 7 years in the phone book
and was located in a small town. The buyer was paying for a well
established balloon business name, phone number, some equipment,
and most of my inventory.

It still amazes me when people with college degrees asked me, "Why
are you selling your business, I thought you liked doing balloons?"
After I explained that the name and phone number wouldn't benefit
me 90 miles away and that I would still be in the balloon business
under another name, they finally understood. I also wanted to see
something I had started from scratch continue on. I included 2 days
training in the price and phone help as needed.

When deciding on a business name, I think it is better not to use
your name like Balloons by Brenda. When establishing a business
think about resale if for some reason you ever needed or wanted to.
