Hi Dave,

I have attached columns like this to poles using 80lb mono, but have tied
them on at 12' then I wrap tape around it to keep it from sliding up or
around pole. Another time I used clear plastic tubing around the structure
(cement pole) with my line slipped inside, this keeps the line from rubbing
on the cement. If I suspect the wind to kick up, I will go to dacron
cording or parachute line. My concern with light posts is having my line
wrap around the pole and light and then not being able to get balloons down.
I don't like to leave messy balloons behind. So I will usually run a line
between two structures and then tie my balloons in the middle. This way
they won't wrap onto anything permanent.
