I tried that and it was not successful for me because it is too time consuming to deflate the balloons.  We tried hooking up a vacuum cleaner on the wrong end to a balloon straw to pull the air out, but it was still very slow going.  I wouldn't recommend it unless you are only using 50
or less balloons.  Any more than that and you will be pulling your hair out and climbing the walls.  Duos do keep very nicely blown up, though--for MONTHS!
