If you are having difficulty finding hurricane lamps you can create a replica of your own very economically and easily.
Purchase: 2 each rose bowls
1 each votive candle holder
1 round of plastic canvas to fit inside of rose bowl neck
1 candle to fit votive candle in your decor colors
1 bag of white or clear marbles (50 pieces approx.)
1 tube of glass adhesive (glass glue)
1 piece of lace large enough to fit around one rose bowl
1 piece of lace or trim to fit around the base of a rose bowl
1 bag of potpourri
Directions:
1 Place on rose bowl upside down on your table top
2 Place second rose bowl on top of the inverted rose bowl as you would if you were to set it on a table.
3 Adhere the two rose bowls with bases touching together
4 Place the votive candle holder in the center of the top rose bowl and glue in place
5 Trim around the base of the two rose bowls with the narrow lace/ribbon trim to hide joint
6 Cut the piece of lace to fit around the rose bowl neck of the top rose bowl (glue the seam closed) and
place snugly around the bowl to form a collar
7 Fill the bottom rose bowl with potpourri and place the plastic canvas inside the top neck on top of the
potpourri to act as a lid to keep the potpourri in the bottom rose bowl -- the open weave will allow
the scent to fill the room
8 Place the candle in the votive cup
9 Place the marbles around the votive candle holder inside the top rose bowl to reflect the candlelight
You have now created a lamp which may be placed on mirrors, ribbon or other decor. These make great rentals if you are willing to change out the trim pieces and the candles to fit the decor colors. You can also do them in white and add an ivy ring around the bottom that you change out the flowers or ribbon on to match the decor of the day. We add our balloons to the base piece. I usually use mirrors or cake plates that have
been covered with balloons to match our decor colors and create a spiral arrangement over the lamps for a tall hall ceiling. Otherwise I make my enhancements at the base with balloons picked or woven in to the ivy trim I place at the bottom when height is a concern.
Hope you find this helpful
