Date: Fri, 17 Nov 2000 09:31:33 -0000 I have a problem with attaching my name prominently to work which has been paid for. I have no problem with a discreet little sticker on every item that I do - after all, all the best shops and companies brand their products, don't they? But if the client has paid top dollar for your work, I don't think it's right to slap a great big business card in the arrangement. If you've discounted though, it's perfectly alright to ask that you put your card into the arrangements in exchange for the discounted price. This is a slightly different situation however - just one piece, being collected. I still don't think you should put your card as an advertisement as such into the arrangement, but as the arrangement is for a good luck delivery, is there not some kind of message to be attached? If so, put the message card into a small envelope, which has the recipients name on the outside, and ensure that the outside of the envelope bears your business name, logo, address etc as well. This is common practice with florists all over the world. It's a discreet way of advertising, it hides the sender's message from casual observers, and it identifies the recipient of the bouquet or arrangement professionally. You can print these little envelopes off on your computer too. Regarding the printing your own business cards thing - why not?? I do! Provided your printer is up to scratch and you use a good DTP program, there should be no problem. Avery produce a good business card blank on heavy card stock with no perforations - they look as good as any I could get done professionally. It's actually a little more expensive than having, say 5,000 cards printed at the printers, but I can change the details to suit whatever is happening, whenever I like.
