Gerrilynne,

Use something that the person is retiring from!  Like:

    construction -- use toy trucks, snack that looks like gummy worms coming
out of dirt etc.

    teaching -- chalk boards, apples, rulers

Those are just a couple I can think of and build off of that!  Let us know
what you come up with!
