G'Day from Downunder,
Nice to be offering assistance to a fellow Aussie.
As Mitch suggested, first thing is to exhaust every possible way of using
existing fixtures or fittings to provide rigging.
Lots of beginners forget to consider simply attaching a small "G Clamp" to a
pelmet edge or picture rail either side of the room .... tying mono to the
clamps and removing the clamps when dismantling. No holes, no adhesive, no
damage. That's probably not an option in this case.
The situation is this:-
* Casino needs promotional props or signage in a specific location.
* If the location nominated has no suitable SAFE rigging or fixing points,
in my book, it's up to the Casino to do one of two things.
a) THEY install suitable rigging points / hooks or ...
b) They give you WRITTEN permission to install the hooks you need. You write
a letter stating that they have given you permission and have them sign and
date the letter. Manage your client! Don't allow the client to make you
liable for the fact that THEIR building doesn't lend itself to THEIR needs.
Being light weight Corflute, they may approve small plastic hooks adhered to
the ceiling surface. Try to place these as inconspicuously as possible.
Frankly .... if it's high ... I doubt very many patrons in a casino look at
the ceiling. Make it VERY CLEAR that you WILL NOT remove any screwed or
adhesive fixing points once installed. (that's asking for trouble)
Remind them that once installed, they can use the fixing points time and
time again for all kinds of future promotions.
For "security reasons", we have found that the Sydney Casino will not permit
decorators to drill a hole in anything. They get their own full time
maintenance guys to do all that stuff.
Good Luck.
