I would be interested in hearing what Wynn had to say about outdoor balloon work. I did my first outdoor event for my niece this weekend. It was her 1st b-day party. We made "fantasy cloud"-like things that surrounded our area at the park. At the top of the cloud (instead of the 16", we used a giant character head shape from Winnie the pooh. These were attached to the tops of 7' pipe and bases (like you would use for air filled column) It was very windy being right along the bay and those poles stayed put. I was amazed at how well they held up. I was just thinking, you probably could have done fantasy clouds like that for behind her head table. They would have stayed put and had a more elegant look. Congratulations for being able to think on your feet and pull off the wedding to everyone's kudos. This is just something to think about for the future! I used SDS bases so they had a little bit of weight. ----- Original Message ----- To: <teraar1@warwick.net> Cc: <balloondeco@balloonhq.com> Sent: Monday, June 12, 2000 9:54 AM Subject: A MILLION THANKS!!KS!! Hello everyone. I want to thank EVERYONE for the encouragement and support I received for the 'disaster' wedding. O.K. Now for the unbelievable FINALE! On Sunday the bride called me and and left a WONDERFUL voice mail. She loved the decor and got a lot of compliments!!!! I offered her a refund for the archway that she wanted over the head table, and she told me to keep it as a tip for the excellent job. In fact I have 2 REFERRALS!! I suppose that I am my own worst boss. It is easier to be hard on yourself when the buck stops with you. So, I guess that it is not yet time to throw in the towel. SOME GREAT TIPS I RECEIVED: Learn something from the disaster to be used in the future - tomorrow is another day. Jeanette Cranstone don't do outside work. Beth only use Magic Arch or duos for outside work, NO EXCEPTIONS. Freda Tesseneer CBA we specifically set out in the contract that we are not responsible for weather and we can make adjustments to the decor as we see fit given that it is being done outside.......that covers our "butt" so to speak!! Maria Woodbridge Party Centre, Canada take a deep breath and move on to the next job...Denise Grigg D.R. Balloons & More Ontario, Canada. Never give back money after you did the job. You are your own worst critic! You know the bride may have walked in and thought it was gorgeous! Never assume that she is going to hate it! Wait for her to contact you, explain the situation and the circumstances you were up against. Chances are you will be able to keep your hard earned money. Judy Bradt, CBA A Special Event Pico Rivera, CA ARTISTIC LISENSE: In the event of any changes needed to the decor for any reason (location, ceilings, venue) client agrees to allow me artisitic liscense. DELAY BY SITE MANAGEMENT: Client agrees not to hold me responsible for delay if site management is not prepared for our arrival or for another reason does not allow us adequate time for installation of decor. Cheryl Bohler, CBA Batavia, IL I also received a terrific e-mail from Wynn Bell about outdoor decor. If anyone is interested, I will forward it to you. Again to everyone ---- THANK YOU. :-) Teresa Ferguson The Balloon Pantry Middletown, NY
