Subject: CANYOU AFFORDTO IGNORE AFRICAN MARKET?

Hi,
I got this beautiful story from the organizers of the African Parties 2001
jam
Alli Alli
Ghana.
********************

Read this balloon story!
Once upon a time, some Nigerians rushed to US to buy computers and become
resellers in Lagos, but sadly, most American then, thought the Nigerian market
was too small. Trust Nigerians, they don’t give up and turned to the Far East.
Fortunately, the Asians welcomed them, the Nigerians moved over and cleaned
up their stock and became agents, resellers and distributors of their
products.
Suddenly, years after, Americans realizing the volume of trade going, changed
gear and had a re- think and rushed down to Nigeria, impressed with the
millions of dollars made as turnover from these Nigerians in a very short
while. But then, the Asian Tigers are now on the lead!

Today, even Bill Gates, has an office in Lagos and most Americans usually rush
at any fair on computer or IT industry in Nigeria!

Now, I believe in a very short while, the same thing will happen to the
balloon and decoration industry in Nigeria in particular and Africa in general
from my 11 years experience and RESEARCH in the industry. Considering the over
20,000 decorators spread over 36 states of Nigeria with a population of over
120 million people apart from the over 80 million for the West Coast, ECOWAS
and also taking into consideration the number of people becoming decorators
monthly through the various Training Seminars we run all over the country and
beyond, the market will soon explode! Nigeria is also noted as a “party
country”, even during the hard times in the past, there were lots of loud
parties with unique decorations with flowers and balloons, similarly for
extravagant weddings, launches and the rest. Presently, you needed to visit
Lagos on a weekend and you’ll think a carnival is going on with lots of
celebrations, ceremonies and parties going on. Most streets are closed to
traffic on weekends with canopies and chairs arranged even on major roads,
with this causing a lot of traffic jam usually referred to as “Go Slow” by
Nigerians.
With a lot of publicity now going on with the new democratic government with
a lot of money in circulation and most decorators advertising in over 20
daily and weekly Newspapers, T.V stations, outdoor billboards, newsletters,
trade fairs, websites and many others promoting the industry in Nigeria, I
think the industry has come of age…. .
Time will not permit me to mention the other countries like Ghana,
Coted’Ivoire, Gambia, Cameroun, Kenya, Zimbabwe, S/Africa etc.
CAN YOU NOW AFFORD TO IGNORE THE AFRICAN MARKET?
Time will tell………
