Date: 5/17/00 6:15:01 AM Pacific Daylight Time From: dyrw@jvlnet.com (dyrw) To: balloondeco@balloonhq.com (balloons) Hello, I have a client I need your advice on please. The local car dealer owner calls us to order him printed logo balloons, uninflated. I told him the price I could get them for and he agreed. Then he said he could get them cheaper and gave us the book he is ordering from. He doesn't care about how good the ballons are, doesn't care if it pops when the kid leaves the store with it. He just wants to give the kid a balloon and thats all. So when I told him the price again he said why should he have to pay this higher price since he gave me a book which showed lower prices. I then asked him why he wanted me to place this order for him as his sec. could do this for him much cheaper. His response was he wanted to give us the business. So when I picked out his balloons I found I had several choices of the car logos.... so what do I do I call him to double check which ones he wanted. I think that is offering good service isn't it??? He then gets upset and says he has never had so much trouble ordering balloons before and he just wanted me to make all the choices and just get him his balloons. And as far as the price I should charge him what "I think is fair" I have his charge card number. The problem is he can make or break me in my small town as he has "power" to say. I have no idea why he is doing this or if for some odd reason he is testing me. HELP and I would greatly like to know your thoughts on this. This scares me. Thanks, Theresa H >> Theresa.... yeah he wants to give you the business because he IS giving you "the business" .... sometimes jobs just are not worth undertaking.... he sounds like more trouble than he is worth and I would walk away.... if he complains about the cost of the balloons and wants to pay the lesser amount then tells you to charge what you think is fair then he will complain unless he gets his way.... What are you afraid of? No one has the power to make or break you... is his name Potter and you live in Pottersville? No I dont think so..... Be honest tell him that this is what you charge for balloons and stand firm..... If he compains, then tell him that you are sorry that you cannot seem to fullfill his needs and that maybe you can serve his balloon needs in the future (if he loosens the purse strings) Maria Grace Pilios CBA <A HREF="http://members.aol.com/BaloonBabe/balloons">"Ain't That Special"</A> Balloon Decorating Company Norwalk, CA
