I thought everyone knew about the old kickback game, and assumed everyone played it. I personally refer other companies who impress me and provide services I don't. However, when a client asks me to find a service I don't provide ,I work out a deal with the other company before they pitch my client to ensure that I get a little "advertising" incentive. Please note, I'm talking about MY client. I'm quick with a card when I hear people casually discussing a party or wedding, but not at the expense of my fellow planners or decorators. That said, I totally agree with both your reaction and the recommendations of our fellows artists. Politely visit without appointment and discuss it. I would also mention that it is a two way street, I have clients who TRUST my input and follow my recommendations, I guess you know who I wouldn't refer. The THREAT is as strong as your skill. Any hall poorly decorated can provide a negative experience and it won't take too long before word gets around. Could I also mention that initial consultation is free but my knowledge and time are as valuable as my creations. Remember that bozo probably wears old funky socks. Good Luck, Tim McConeghy LORD OF LATEX
