Just a little something that Dolly suggests.
When making goal posts, use the square pack duplets method.
Not only will you use fewer balloons, the appearance is much more "slim
straight line". The sculpture looks more like slim POSTS ... than fat
COLUMNS
(if you get my drift?). Taper balloon size from bottom to top if need be.
Add the horizontal cross bar same way as with any goal posts framing.

Gaffer Tape the upturned horizontal bar to the posts at either side.
Then wrap duplets on frame by square pack method.
That's Dolly's method. Some others on the list may have some better methods?
