Hi Lisa,
Have you considered using link a loons??? You wouldn't need any poles at all...in the archives and one of the balloon & party issues..there is a picuture of the gingerbread house that was created and made as we watched at All Star REvue last November...Something to consider especially for a childs party..you wouldn't have to worry about them running into or knocking over the poles!!
