Subject: What Would You Do?
To: balloondeco@balloonhq.com
Melanie,
Wow! What a turn of events...as a CBA you did your homework in referring
remote jobs to other "qualified" CBAs and included what the job was to be,
colors, etc. If, after quoting a bid to another company, I decided that I
needed to hire an additional person, didn't get my balloon order in on time
and incurred additional expense, I would NOT ask for additonal c-shells from
the contractor. I would be too embarrassed to ask for additional c-shells
because of MY mistake. I would go ahead and eat the cost and chalk it up to
experience. This person obviously does not have the experience to complete a
quoted job within the specs required (sure they're a CBA?), or the morals to
adhere to an agreement. Yes, I agree a contract is the best ...however, as
this was a last-minute job, remote locations, etc. CBAs and others in our
business know that jobs like this pop up (no pun intended) from time to time
and turning to other CBAs via e-mail, telephone, etc. is usually the way it's
done. This person wants YOU to pay for their learning curve - or could this
person be "gouging"? My vote is to pay the ORIGINAL, AGREED UPON PRICE.
