I second Rocky's suggestion for a good book for small business.
I recommend the all time best seller "The E Myth Revisited" by Michael Gerber. INSPIRATIONAL!

My suggestion for the "starter kit" ....
The all important mathamatical formulas that balloon pros constantly call upon for estimating
quantities. Without the correct math ... your price is a best guess! 
Volume of a sphere
Length of an arch
Diagonals across a dancefloor or room.
Area of a circle
Circumference of a circle
Volume of a cylinder
Balloons per metre (or foot) of garland. (chart)
A "How Many Balloons" are in my (part full) helium cylinder. (chart)
And of course .... the tried and true QBN pricing formula.

Now it's off to amazon.com to see if I can order the book Rocky recommended.
