The clam shell idea just came to me last night as I was thinking about the mermaid theme, in all the old comics and cartoons you see the giant clam open with a pearl just waiting to be grabbed any time the characters go underwater so I thought, why not? The way to recreate the effect is to bend 1/4 inch aluminum rod into the shape of the edge of the shell like a hand fan with a ~~~~ kind of edge as it faces you. Attach the 260s to the center of the hinge and work from the outside toward the center first tying the balloon at the hinge then tying it to the outer edge then rubber cement it to or double sided tape it to the frame or previous balloon. Probably all the balloons will start from a 4-8 inch area in the back then spread along in that wavy way to maybe 4 feet wide across the curve. The basis of the idea came from an urn and later a champagne glass design I saw in Images (Go Pioneer). That said I used oriental trading for my new years party stuff but you can also check the web for novelties wholesalers or otherwise (lots of naghty sites to wade through) but there are some good companies out there. Oriental trading toll free 1-800-228-0475 Remember your the best balloon artist in your socks Good Luck Tim McConeghy LORD OF LATEX >
