Subject: 3 ft. canopy topper
To: balloondeco@balloonhq.com
We're working on an idea for a Jr. High school dance. They would like a
canopy affect over their dance floor. This will be held in the school
gymnasium. Our idea so far is for twisted, air filled columns on conduit on
each corner of the floor (approx. 30' x 36' dimensions). Rising in the
center above the columns would be a 3 ft. round helium filled latex.
Anchoring the 3 footer would be white plastic table covering (the kind that
comes on a 100 ft. roll) that will hopefully look like more expensive fabric
draping. This plastic draping will be attached to the top of each column and
swag up to the neck of the balloon. The school has a budget of approx.
$200.00. They loved the crisscrossing SOP arches utilizing corner columns
but when we priced it out they were way over budget since they also need to
decorate two other rooms with balloons. The idea we have will fit within
their budget because they have already purchased the table coverings to use
in the other rooms. I'm wondering if anyone has created a canopy similar to
this and what tricks and traps we should be aware of. I'm mulling over in my
mind if I will lose the "swag" effect if I just attach the plastic drape to
the columns and balloon or if I should secure the 3 footer with monofiliment
and add the plastic after. I'm trying to avoid a pointed rocket shaped
canopy as opposed to a graceful, curving swags of draping. Is this as clear
as mud? We've got a month before the dance and I'll resort to trial and
error testing before unless someone's got some helpful information.
