Subject: free storefront & sand question
Date: Mon, 16 Apr 2001 20:38:14 -0500
Hello, all!
Hope your summer schedules are filling up!
I have a question-does anyone have an idea of how to create an effect of
sand at a beach, without the mess of actual sand? It is for a week-long
emp. appreciation luncheon at a bank, and is being held in a meeting room.
I will have a beach set-up with a balloon palm tree, baby pool with a "joe
cool" and beach balls, beach chairs, and sun mylars and balloon clouds but
haven't come up with a way to make it look like it is on a sandy beach-was
thinking a beige fabric draped in ripples?
Second, I have some exciting news I want to share, if you don't mind!
Having been out of my retail storefront for a year now, I was approached by
the new owner of my previous store's main competition, a party store, to be
their "professional decorator". I will have an entire section in the store,
at the front, with a big window to display signage, etc... In trade, I will
buy retail products from them(except balloons and other decor materials like
tulle). No commission trades, either. I will be in one day a week to meet
with clients, or by appointments, and will help them that day if they need
it. I went to college with the owner, and she is very excited about being
able to offer this service. The morning we met at the store, I even booked
a dancefloor for a bride who came in for streamers to do it herself!
Thanks for letting me share my excitement! I am thrilled to be staying home
with my son, but as he approaches 2, the prospect of being out of the house
1 set day per week while daddy watches him is wonderful!!!
Happy ballooning!
