We have a contract with Embassy Suites (it's actually while wearing my
"twister" hat) but the beginning could be the same. I met the general
manager at a Chamber of Commerce networking meeting, gave him at 30 second
spiel and he set up a meeting for the next day. That was over a year ago and
we're still going strong.
I urge everyone to be involved with Chambers Of Commerce. Realize that you
are not required, usually, to join based on where your business is. My
business is in Hudson, which is a small town (translated: no hotels or many
large companies). However, Marlboro - the next city over - has 6 hotels 2
convention centers, etc. That is the one I joined.
Also, if you cannot afford to join the chamber at the moment, attend their
networking events anyway. Yes, they will try to pitch you to join, but you
can always "sample" any organization you may want to join. You can always
decide it's not for you (many places allow 3 visits before you are no longer
considered at visitor.)
Hope this helps
Good luck
