Having never done a drop with balloons OR beach balls, I am not sure how
relevant this would be, but, I think if you would use the bag, you would
have to spray it well with an anti-static spray, as the balls would "stick"
to the bag. Just my thought. (again, not sure how accurate it is)

<< We've been asked to do a beach ball drop of 16" beach
balls. We intend to place 375, 16" beach balls, in
  standard 17' x 60' orchard nets.
We are concerned that the weight of the air-filled
beach balls may too great for standard balloon drop
  netting.
If anyone on this list has any experience with using
these nets for a similar project, we would certainly
appreciate any advice you may have.
   >>We did beach ball drop for a beach themed bat mitzvah. The weight of
the beach balls was a problem because it made the string very difficult to
pull. we did get them out but it took longer than it should have and we
actually had to use a poker to get them to come down. Luckily the customer
was still happy and they did come down but i would hesistate to use beach
balls again. Maybe the plastic bag would be better and really wax the pull
string very well.
