Hi Leslie:
I did a figure skating theme awhile back.  I had spray-painted old
skates with
glitter, glued a skateguard to 12" round mirrors and placed the skate in
the skate guard to keep it upright.  These were used for the bases of
the bouquets on each of the tables.  The cake table was adorned with
bouquets done with clear balloons with irredesent glitter inside which
gave the immpression of ice crystals. 
The crystal clear snowflake latex would also look nice tied into this
theme.  I hope this helps get your creative juices flowing.....good
