From: "Angela Edwards" <paidtoparty@hotmail.com> To: balloondeco@balloonhq.com Subject: newbie request Date: Tue, 12 Sep 2000 15:28:35 CDT I am working on my 3rd corporate decorating event and would love some input from the "pros"... I am exchanging decor for a booth at our Chamber of Commerce's Annual Business Expo. The booth cost is $300, so I need to stay within that range on my decor, yet do enough for people to be "impressed" LOL! The event will be held in our civic center, with an estimated 88 booths (10'x8'). The theme is "People Do Bu$ine$$ With People They Know" and the invitations have currency on them... no specific denomination. The only idea the coordinator has is to use green for a "money" theme, they will have green tablecloths. So I pretty much have free range on what I do, for the expo as well as my own booth, (people will be voting on a "best booth" award.) I have searched the archives, and this is what I have come up with (along with my own ideas...) I'd like to do a "magic arch" over the registration table (which will be in the hall outside) using silver and green, weighted by clear bags of silver plastic coins. Hot-Air Balloon with play money (bills and coins) spilling out of it. Use clear balloons with Hi Float inside, and stuff play money into the balloons so the money will stick to the inside walls of the balloon. Take a few more play $$ bills and crinkle them in the middle and tie them at the knot of the balloon for a bow tie effect. Money trees - Real trees with fake money "growing on it" Have a money grubbing game - with a treasure chest and sticky hands, people can try to money grub at my booth, under each coin have a prize -discount off or something.... Pass out fake money with my business card attached... I can do a "fishbowl drawing" at my booth, giving away something, in order to collect leads... my party business includes party supplies, planning & hosting; gift baskets, event decorating, and even clowning for private parties or grand openings, whatever. So collecting the leads is a must. I am working on a special brochure for the event, to gear towards the things I can do for businesses specifically. I am stumped on what to do - other than latex bouquets - around the rest of the hall to carry the theme, since the main arch will be outside in the hall... Maybe air-filled magic arch columns using the smaller size? Any $$ theme mylars or latex available? I've seen one in the Flowers Inc. catalog, with a money background and "thanks a bunch!" in gold script.... how can I (inexpensively) tie the booths together with decor? Centerpieces may not be an option, since each vendor is responsible for their own booth. Not only can I get exposure for this event, I should be able to use the magic arch balloons again, possibly for Christmas. I am already promised the Chamber of Commerce's Annual Christmas Banquet as well. Any thoughts are much appreciated!!! Angela Edwards EZ Occasions /1-800-PARTYSHop Consultant #7868 Huntsville, AL USA
