The kids love them too because they serve as shakers for them to play with afterwards. Depending on if you use sand or beans, you'll get a louder shaking noise! You could even use pop cans or anything that's cylinder shaped! They're fun to make and cheaper than buying them from suppliers. When it comes to weights as centrepieces, I figure this.....why not make the weights attractive with a dash of creativity....after all, they do serve as part of the focal point of the table! Maria Woodbridge Party Centre ALthough I have seen many creative posts re: weights, I personally don't have the time to bother with making my own anymore, and quite frankly, I don't want to be responsible for an irresponsible guest who destroys my weights and creates a dangerous or destructive act. So, why not just use the new weights available through balloon distributors that have the sand encased in plastic, covered with mylar? No labor, and very attractive.
