Subject: Keeping posts on topic
Due to the increased number of subscribers on the e-mail lists, and the
number of queries I've been receiving regarding post content, I would like
to address a few issues on off topic posting.
Balloon related content is, of course, the first rule of thumb in deciding
if a post is on topic. Posts that refer to subjects of interest to the
balloon related business are also acceptable, of course.
Consideration of geographic, political, and cultural diversities should
also be considered when posting. This applies to everything from how one
should interpret legal issues to invitations for social get togethers.
As we continue to grow please remember that your post goes to thousands of
recipients. If you have a job referral for a specific geographic area,
your best bet would be to search the artist directory for entertainers of
decorators in that area, and contact them directly. When travelling
in an area and seeking individuals to jam or visit with, please search
the directory for the area you are visiting. This cuts down on wasted
bandwidth, as well as eliminates the need to archive posts of this
nature. Some of you may not be listed in the directory. This service is
currently being offered for free, and I would recommend that you add
yourself to this list.
For those of you who wish to post information regarding meetings, whether
in real life or virtual, please consider the BalloonHQ events calendar.
Membership to BalloonHQ is required, but at $25 a year it is a tremendous
deal. See http://www.balloonhq.com/member/ for membership information,
and http://www.balloonhq.com/events/eventsdb.php to preview the events
calendar.
Another benefit of BalloonHQ membership is the classified ad section. If
you have any used equipment, surplus supplies, or closeouts from your
business, it's the best way to reach other professionals. You can also
post your wish list, if you are looking for a deal on used items. ANy
announcements pertinent to the industry can also be posted there, and the
static nature of the board makes it more valuable than an e-mail message
that can be deleted. BalloonHQ will also send out a regular announcement
of items listed!
Please consider these options to e-mail announcements. It will benefit
the online balloon community, and you, so much more!
Best regards,
Jack Porcello
