I love to do columns with helium instead of poles &
plates, you don't have to go back for anything!
Air Fill the column as usual (can be done ahead of
time) then tie a large wrapped sand weight or brick to
one end. Then helium fill a 3' balloon and tie that
snugly into the to of the column. The lift from the
3' will hold the entire column straight and the weight
will hold it all down
