Subject: Questions, questions, questions.....
Hi everyone,
Looking for some input....
I will be doing a couple of palm trees. The "trunks" will be [real]
bamboo shoots that the client is supplying. They are about 5-1/2 - 6'
tall and she uses them as decor in her home. I plan on protecting both
top and bottom portions by "balloon wrapping" them (as described in
IMAGES (by Linda Bruce) - this will be hidden by the actual decor.
My question involves how to best stabilize/secure them. They will be
*planted* in large plastic terra cotta - look planters.
I am not very good at the mechanics and physics of things. I usually
have a *great* idea on how to do something; but then when implementing
it, come to find out that, physically, it is not going to work. I
loose/waste a lot of time trying to "fix" it and find a solution that
will work. However, on this gig, I will not have a lot of extra time for
one of my infamous *Trial and Error Sessions*
My idea is to invert a smaller planting pot (inside the decorative
planter) and cut a hole the size of the bamboo poles and insert them into
the pots; surrounding the pole with sand weights and then placing more
sand weights around the outside and top (of this *stabilizing* pot)
Will this work? Any/all better suggestions are welcomed and will be much
appreciated.
Next question: Garland length....
I am doing an air filled garland that will swag the length of an outside
balcony (this is a different event than the one above). I doubled the
actual length of the deck to determine how long I will need the garland
to be (and put it to the formula to figure how many balloons are needed).
Is this sufficient, or do I need to figure even more length than that ?
My last question for this post is this....
I have done many Double Bubbles, but always use latex in latex. This
time I will be using a microfoil inside a 3' Diamond Clear. I have 2
questions:
1) INFLATION - I know that in a latex/latex inflation you
want to
underinflate your outside
balloon to allow for the
amount of gas that will fill it while you are filling
your inside
balloon. Is the same
true when the inside balloon is not latex?
Do I need more or less
underinflation, or should I just proceed as
I would normally?
2) TYING - What is the best way to tie them without
damaging the valve on the
inside, microfoil balloon? ( I want
them secured together vs. the inside
balloon being free floating inside
the 3').
I hope that I have made these questions clear and coherent enough to make
sense. Thank you in advance to all who are willing to share their
experience. It (and you) are much appreciated.
