Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 20:24:41 -0500 From: "John Perry, CBA and Johnna Perry" Just wanted to share a couple of things we did over the weekend to raise money for the American Red Cross and the United Way relief fund--there have been so many great ideas shared on the list already, but I'll throw in a little more... All of our balloon entertainers split their tips from restaurant work this weekend with the American Red Cross. We wore buttons and handed out a small business card that explained we were splitting our tips--people were so overwhelmingly generous that we all had more than double what we average so we contributed everything beyond what we usually make. In between jobs this weekend, 3 members of our staff gave time at donation drop-off sites. With the drop-off sites located in almost every neighborhood, it wasn't hard to find someplace to twist, even if it was just for 30 minutes at a time. The volunteers appreciated having a little fun as many of them were putting in 12 hour days and sticking it out through the non-stop rain. It also helped to attract more donations to their drop-off sites. I'm sure in the weeks to come it will be equally important to give of our time. I can't wait to hear everyone's elses ideas, too!
