Subject: United We Stand Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 20:17:56 -0700 (PDT) From: cherie pratt Greetings to All We decided to do something in our front yard this weekend to show our remembrance of those who have fallen and lost loved ones this week, and our gratitude for those who will be protecting us in the upcoming future, and our support for our leaders in this time of tribulation. Because we are home-based we built this in our front yard, but still received a great deal of beeps and waves of appreciation and understanding. We built a spiral walk through heart with red, white, and blue balloons, with red or blue balloons with stars on top added to the spiral at intervals throughout the reversing spirals. In the center was a large white latex balloon cross with red, white, and blue foil stars attached. Our mailbox had some patriotic foil balloons and the foil balloon with the Irish Prayer attached to it, along with a large red, white, and blue bow. We also took several of our drop flags to the local football field on Saturday and placed them on the pressbox with bows and balloons decorating the area. The kids, grades 1 through 8, either sang the Star Spangled Banner or recited the Pledge of Allegiance at each game played that day. It is a shame that it took such a tragedy to reawaken a spirit that has always been there, but I am relieved to know it was there and not forgotten as feared at times in the past.
