Subject: Oct. 3rd Date: Sun, 16 Sep 2001 23:30:23 -0700 From: "Sue Grzybowski" Phoenix twisters, just to let you know I only heard from two twisters, one from Tucson and one from Phx. Therefore I don't think I will pursue the idea of doing something for the fire dept. If I do anything it would be on a very small scale. Just to clear something up. The firemen did not feel bad about not getting a medal, because they didn't go to Oklahoma City. It was the firemen that did receive medals that felt bad. They were only doing their job. Every day there are thousands of men and women who leave home to work the police, and fire stations. They know when they say good-bye it may be the last time. They know the risks, and that they could lose their lives, but they accept that as part of the job. They don't see themselves as hero's , they are just doing their job. It take's a very special kind of person to accept that risk, They love their jobs, and saving lives. Regards, Sue Grzybowski Ps. Thank you to those who wrote with kind words of encouragement for my idea.
