Subject: balloon pumps?

Do they work very well for you?  I find that when I blow a balloon up,
I have to do it in one breath, or the balloon blows up unevenly.  All
the pumps I've seen inflate a few inches at a time; wouldn't this leave
lots of small bends in the balloon?
