There was some discussion back when this list started on balloon books.
I've been meaning to post for a while about a book that I found that I
kind of like. It's at very least better than all of the other balloon
books that I've seen. It's also more expensive. The book is
_Balloon_Magic_ by Marvin Hardy. I bought it a few weeks ago and I've
been meaning to post about it.

The book is about $14. It's almost 200 pages of instructions and
photographs. It covers a very large variety of sculptures (65 figures
total) from the basic four-legged animal to more advanced things like a
motorcycle with a kickstand. I find photographs of balloons harder to
follow than drawings, but I know many people prefer it the other way.
Anyway, if you're looking for a general collection of 1-balloon animals,
I suggest getting a look at this book. Many of the things in it are
fairly standard, but I found enough ideas in it that were new to me to
justify buying it. The only real problem I have with it is that it's
hard bound. It certainly makes the book stronger and likely to last
longer, but I think I'd prefer a spiral binding so I could leave the book
open as I learn something new.

I was also wondering it anyone is interested in routines that can be done
with balloons. I have some ideas of things that I'd like to develop
further, but I haven't had too much experience in the area of building an
act out of balloons. The only part that balloons really play in what I
do is giving them out at the end of parties (or to random people on the
street, in restaurants, etc). If anyone does have experience in this
area, I'd like to hear some suggestions. If there's interest in this
sort of thing I'll describe one routine that I have in mind.

Larry

PS. As requested, I'll try to describe the train, but I may need to take
a break. My hands haven't been doing all that well.
