One suggestion I can think of at the top of my head is to use "cubbies" :)

They are little plastic ice cubes that you can conceal in your costume while 
not getting your costume wet.  These were great for keeping me cool when I 
was clowning in the heat of the sun while pregnant :)

All of the fairs that my husband and I have done have been based on a decent 
pay from the fair itself and being allowed to accept tips.  With that many 
people, you should do very well!

For those interested in the Party Across America from 1800Partyshop, it is on
