I'll start with a suggestion that I've been meaning to post for a few days
and end with a somewhat commercial announcement that answers the same
question. :-)

A number of people have posted over the last few weeks announcing jams and
calling together people to jam. Announcing a jam on this list is always a
good idea. There's no better way that I know of to get the word out.
However, rather than posting the generic question "is there anyone living
in my part of the world," start by visiting the directory of balloon
artists and suppliers accessible from the home page of Balloon HQ or by
going straight to
	http://www.balloonhq.com/dbindex

Once there you can find other artists in your area. Write to a few and
schedule a time. Then post a note for everyone to see that you're getting
together. It saves some random clutter on this list if you can work out
the details before posting. otherwise we end up with a lot of notes here
asking "can anyone join me?" and followups like, "we've changed the time
again."

Now, for the commercial answer. I'm going to be in Sacramento teaching a
couple of classes at Continental Sales on May 23. Actually, I have a
couple other dates in California also and am hoping to fill in some between
them. If you're in California and want to attend one of my classes but
the following doesn't work for you due to location, let me know. I'll be
driving from Los Angeles to Sacramento and I'd like to make at least one
stop in between.

Here's my schedule so far:
May 16, 2000 Los Angeles, CA Seminar at Conwin
May 17, 2000 Los Angeles, CA Seminar at All-American Balloons
May 23, 2000 Sacramento, CA Seminar at Continental Sales

At each location I'll be doing 2 sessions.

Balloon fabrics (balloon weaving) - starting on the simple stuff and
working up to large scale creations. When discussing large scale
creations, we'll go into planning and executing multi thousand balloon
sculptures for those that are interested in taking it that far. There's
nothing hard in this class. I describe this as advanced but not difficult.
That is, it's not for someone that's never twisted a balloon (but if you're
on this list, you obvisouly dont' fall into that category), but if you're
able to make a hand full of animals consistently you can learn to make
balloon fabrics. I teach this as a bridge between decorating and twisting.
This is not stuff you make on the street. It can be used for deliveries or
room decor. I also talk some about applying these techniques to decor.

World Class Airigami and Balloonicature - this is stuff to make twisters
think and play. Unusual creations using a variety of balloons - not just
260s. Balloonicature is caricatures using balloons. Learn to make a
variety of faces and face styles to create not only original figures but
actual representations of your friends.

At the conclusion of each, I'll spend some time talking about BHQ an dusing
the 'net to promote your business in a round table fashion and hanging out
and jamming after if we have the space.
