If you are only expecting MAX 300 children, then in a four hour time period, I expect that no more than 4 or five people would be needed. I personally did a charity balloon event for about 250 children a couple of thanksgivings ago, and handled them virtually by myself. (Let me caveat this statement with a warning... The Balloon Guy was not the only piece of entertainment, there were other booths to keep kids occupied while waiting for me to free up again. If you are the ONLY entertainment, I would say 3 to 4 twisters, and 2, maybe 3 face painters.) As for your concerns as to how much training in twisting you should give your fill-ins... I would say none. I would whole heartedly recommend that you hire freelancers. You can find plenty on this forum, depending where you live, or you can probably find some on your own in your town. yes, they do cost more, but in the end, you give a better show, and the customer will end up being happier if he sees 6 professionals, instead of 3 professionals and 4(if you will excuse the term) weinies. Also, if you hire professionals, you will need less of them than you will need of rookies who can only make the rudimentary balloon animals (e.g. everything that is made form just a balloon doggy) because they have the ability to work considerably faster. I 've done company parties for up to 250 by myself but this happens to be the biggest company within 60 miles of where i live and they are having it at our towns new big arena. In other words big time major publicity and the most money per hour I've ever made and I didn't even have to ask nicely. they just plopped it out for me. What I need is this? I have 2 full time face painters and balloonists. But I'm thinking a crew of 5 or six would be more appropriate for this job. they want me and my crew for 4 hours. There will probably be 1/4 to 1/2 children there. Do ya'll think 5-6 will be enough and when you go looking to hire what our your criteria? How long do you train your people for.
