While the reply below *may* be correct, especially
with off-brand VHS tapes going for less than $1 for 10
at Wal-Mart, I don't agree with the conclusion Ian
reached. Here's why:

1) The cost savings isn't much. My last tapes from
Polyvinyl were $1.08 for 30 minute tapes (5 and 15 are
also available for less $$$.) That's not bad.

2) The quality of the cheap off-brand tapes is
questionable

3) The impression one gets when receiving a tape for
the proper length, professionally recorded, does
influence a buyers decision. Myabe not much, but I
think every *little* step toward professionalism adds
up to a lot when all is said and done.

When you buy tapes most of the cost is in the case and
shipping and handling etc. You will likely find that,
because the longer tapes are more in demand that they
are cheaper.
