List,
I do something similar in that I pretend I screwed up and pop the
balloon and then show what it really is. I do a one balloon motorcycle which
has a pinch pop series for the handle bars. I hold it up and go TA DAH! A
TEDDY BEAR! and then say "Oh that doesn't look very good!" and pop the
bubble and align everthing right and hold it up for display. (OOOOhhh
AAAAAHHHH!)
If someone comes up and asks what I'm making I tell them the secret to
being really impressive is to never say what it is supposed to be until its
done so you don't dissappoint anyone. It usually gets a chuckle.
On Sunday I was asked for a horse so I took an end of a pastel purple
ballon and made a big production out of puffing a little air in it an tying
it off (Taaa DAAAH! then set it aside to puzzled looks) then made a
goldenrod horse with kissy lips etc. The big flourish was adding the purple
"horn" between the ears for a unicorn. I actually got applause!
